Justice John Mansfield Farewelled After 17 Years with Court of Appeal

After more than 17 years of distinguished service with Vanuatu’s Court of Appeal, Justice John Mansfield has been officially farewelled by the judiciary this afternoon.

Appointed to the Court in 2007, Justice Mansfield has played a key role in shaping legal decisions at the highest level in Vanuatu, earning deep respect across the nation’s legal community.

In his farewell remarks, he said, “The long time I’ve been a judge of this Supreme Court of Appeal, it has been a great honour and distinction to do it.”

Throughout his tenure, Justice Mansfield contributed to numerous important rulings and upheld the integrity of the court system. His departure marks the end of an era, and his contributions have been described as invaluable to the strengthening of the rule of law in Vanuatu.

The judiciary, legal fraternity, and broader community have expressed their heartfelt thanks and best wishes to Justice Mansfield as he concludes his service.
