Vanessa Quai to hold  disaster relief concert

Vanuatu get ready: Vanessa Quai to hold  disaster relief concert

A powerful voice and technically flawless, Vanessa Quai is the name to reckon with when it comes to Pacific music.

A ‘lioness on the rise’ as many describe her; she’s a young woman with a fighting spirit. Every stage she sets foot on vibrates with her Pacifica melody. Everyone who knows her music and has seen her perform knows she delivers purely from her heart.

Music is her passion, and with or without a mic she lights up any environment with her melodious voice. Her inspiration to write songs comes from the word of God, it keeps her alert and conscious of the things happening in the world.

Now with the COVID-19 pandemic and the impact of Tropical Cyclone (TC) Harold Vanessa feels a sense of responsibility to use her music to help the people affected.

She’s organising a relief concert in Port Vila at the end of June to support the families affected by TC Harold.

“In the midst of this crisis, we have to let our light shine” she said.

“We are organizing this concert to raise up funds to support our families from the Northern provinces that were affected by the devastating TC Harold. I am appealing to the public and my message is: whatever form of donation you are willing to offer from your heart will be very much acceptable and appreciated”

Vanessa has teamed up with VBTC’s Television Blong Vanuatu to stage the concert which she hopes will have ripple effect across the country.

Because of the COVID-19 restrictions banning big crowds; and to avoid the problems of social distancing, the concert will be hosted at the VBTC studios so that everyone can watch and hear the concert from the comfort and safety of their homes.

“This is exciting for me, I know times are hard but staying positive is the message I want to get across,” Vanessa told VBTC News.

The relief concert will take place on Saturday 27 June and will be broadcast live on TBV, VBTC Facebook, Femme Pawa 99FM and Paradise 98FM.

It will be a three-hour non-stop in studio concert.

Even with no studio audience, Vanessa is sure to deliver a dynamic performance for Vanuatu.

From the studios to your phones, radio and television, Vanuatu get ready!
