China Media Group has donated three camera equipment to Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (VBTC) to support news production and strengthen cooperation between the two national media organisations.

The equipment was officially handed over today at the Chinese Embassy, marking another step in the ongoing partnership between VBTC and China Media Group.

The donation follows a Memorandum of Cooperation signed between the two organisations during a visit to China in 2024 when Charlot Salwai was Prime Minister, with the aim of expanding collaboration between Vanuatu and China’s national media institutions.

Chief of China Media Group Sydney Bureau, Mr Lin, said the donation represents a practical outcome of the media partnership between the two countries.

“The donation of three cameras to VBTC represents a concrete outcome of the media cooperation between China and Vanuatu and it also embodies the sincere and shared commitments to cooperation and development among media colleagues from our two countries. We hope these cameras will provide practical support for your news production and technical operations.”

Chairman of the VBTC Board, Johnston Kalman Tau, said the contribution comes at an important time as VBTC continues to modernise its services.

“The equipment we received will enhance our capacity to cover national events, tell the stories of our communities and preserve the rich culture and traditional traditions of our nation. The board sincerely appreciates the continued friendship and cooperation between the government and people of China and the government and people of Vanuatu.”

VBTC says the new equipment will strengthen its ability to produce quality content, improve coverage of national events, and continue telling the stories of communities across Vanuatu.
