The Australian Government has announced a postponement of the second ballot draw for the Pacific Engagement Visa (PEV) for Ni-Vanuatu applicants, now scheduled for February. This delay comes in response to the December 17 earthquake, which disrupted businesses, services, and government offices in Vanuatu, and has affected applicants’ ability to gather essential documents required for their visa applications.
Ni-Vanuatu applicants may experience delays in obtaining documents related to identity, relationships, character, finances, and parental responsibilities. Additionally, applicants may face challenges in completing required English language and health examinations due to the ongoing recovery efforts.
The decision to postpone the ballot will provide applicants with additional time to complete their documentation and examinations, ensuring they are better prepared to progress their applications within the set time frame. It will also allow Ni-Vanuatu applicants to access support from the PEV Support Office once it is fully operational in its new location.
The ballot will draw from applicants who registered for the first ballot in Vanuatu in June of last year. No new registrations will be accepted for this round. A new date for the ballot draw will be announced soon, along with further information for successful candidates about the necessary steps to complete their visa applications and the documents that can be submitted after lodging.
