Geogas Vanuatu Ltd has reassured the public that there is no shortage of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) in the country, despite growing concerns linked to global events.

The company says gas supply in Vanuatu remains stable, with sufficient stock available in both Port Vila and Santo.

VBTC News visited the main market house in Port Vila, where vendors continue their daily cooking, serving meals to customers without disruption.

Some vendors told VBTC News they have not experienced any shortage.

“I haven’t seen any shortage of gas. I have standby gas, but supply has been normal,” one vendor said.

However, others raised concerns about access, saying that gas outlets are now located further away from the market area.

“Before, we had a shop nearby, but now we have to travel further to buy gas,” another vendor explained.

In response, General Manager Raymon Singh of Geogas Vanuatu Ltd urged the public not to panic.

“We’ve seen people reacting to international news about conflict, which is causing unnecessary concern. We want to assure everyone that there is no problem with gas supply in Vanuatu. We have stock available, and prices remain the same,” he said.

Mr Singh acknowledged the concerns raised by market vendors regarding accessibility and said the company is looking at solutions.

“We hear the concerns, and we will look at setting up resellers or temporary setups like tents to make gas more accessible in certain areas,” he added.

Recent tensions in the Middle East involving countries such as Iran, United States, and Israel have impacted global fuel markets, raising concerns about supply disruptions in many parts of the world.

However, Geogas Vanuatu maintains that its supply chain remains unaffected, with scheduled shipments continuing as normal.
