The Government has allocated more than VT59 million toward electricity network upgrades in North-East Malekula and East Santo.
Minister responsible for Energy, Ralph Regenvanu, announced this during the Second Ordinary Sitting of Parliament this week, referring to the Government’s New Policy Project (NPP) document.
His clarification came after an Opposition question on whether the Government would consider additional power transformation for NE Malekula.
“Referring to the 2026 Government MPP document, page 21 , project code 26B13 , it outlines the East Santo minor high-voltage extension, low-voltage extension, and service connections. Government has allocated VT59,613,367 for the low-voltage installation in North-East Malekula and East Santo,” Minister Regenvanu said.
He added that the Government will allocate additional funds in 2027 and 2028 to complete low-voltage connections across both areas.
