The Vanuatu National Senior Men’s Football Team will take to the field today at 5PM for their opening match of the MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2025, facing off against the PNG Red (Development) Team.
Led by head coach Lars Hopp, the team held its final preparation training session yesterday in Port Moresby and is ready to represent the nation with confidence and determination.
Coach Hopp’s 20-man final squad was selected following weeks of intense pre-squad training that featured 37 players from clubs across the country. The final list includes some of Vanuatu’s most talented and experienced footballers drawn from top domestic and provincial teams.
From Galaxy FC, players Henry and Malakai made the cut, while Ifira Black Bird FC contributes Franck Ruben, John Wogale, and Kerry Fred. Erakor Golden Star FC features Rayan Wanemut, Taman, Massing Kalopang, and Jerry.
Penama FC’s Vinex Alex Tabi, Pango Green Bird FC’s Ben, and Tupuji Imere FC’s Jima are also in the lineup.
Naka FC adds Naling and Solo, and Mauriki FC contributes James, Nicholas King, Gerald Avock, and Mila.
The largest representation comes from iCount Yatel FC, with nine players — Andrew Tougon, Alick Worworbu, Robea, Lucas Avock, Waisele Richard, Michel Coulon, Alex Saniel, Zakaria Walu, and Kati Imak.
Tafea FC has six players: Brian, David, Tor, Kerry Iawak, Tony, and Kalver Kaltak. North Efate United FC contributes Jay, Nicki Aru, and Sino Tabe, while United Malampa FC adds Walter Leoru and Timothy. Classic FC’s Eddy Vuti, representing Luganville Football Association, and Rodney Andrew from Tafea FA, now with Lautoka FC in Fiji, complete the squad.
The MSG Prime Minister’s Cup 2025, hosted in Port Moresby, brings together Melanesian nations including Vanuatu, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Fiji, and New Caledonia to compete for regional football supremacy.
