The Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Utilities has a new Director General, following the official appointment of Mr. Henry Worek on 24 September.
Mr. Worek received his appointment letter from the Chairman of the Public Service Commission (PSC), Mr. Martin Mahe, during a brief ceremony.
In his remarks, Chairman Mahe said Mr. Worek brings strong expertise in infrastructure development and expressed confidence in his ability to lead the ministry and strengthen the sector across the country.
After receiving his appointment, Mr. Worek thanked the Public Service Commission for the trust placed in him. He emphasized the importance of building infrastructure resilience to respond to the growing challenges of climate change.
According to the PSC, Mr. Worek’s contract as Director General will run for a period of four years. His appointment follows the end of the contract of former DG Johnson Iauma Binaru, who had held the office since 1 May 2021.
The Commission highlighted Mr. Worek’s extensive experience and deep knowledge in infrastructure and public works. VBTC News understands Mr. Worek has served in the sector for many years and was most recently Acting Director General of the Ministry before his formal appointment.
