The Vanuatu Government has allocated 69 percent of its total expenditure for the March 2025 quarter to employee payments, according to the latest financial report.
Out of nearly 7 billion vatu in total spending recorded in the first quarter, approximately 5 billion vatu was used to cover wages and salaries for public servants. While this represents a 3 percent decrease compared to the previous quarter, it also reflects a 2 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024.
On the revenue side, the government collected just over 10 billion vatu — a 16 percent increase from the previous quarter and a 3 percent increase compared to the same quarter last year.
Tax revenue made up the largest share of income, totaling over 7 billion vatu. This figure is a 58 percent increase from the previous quarter but shows a slight decrease when compared to the March quarter of 2024.
