The Vanuatu Teacher’s Union (VTU) is advocating for a compassionate pass for students impacted by the ongoing teachers’ disputes that have led to a strike lasting 100 days already.
General Secretary of the VTU, Mr. Jonathan Yonah stated that unresolved issues among the Teaching Services Commission, the Government, and the VTU continue to affect students’ education. Despite some payments being processed for teachers, the Teaching Services Commission has not provided a comprehensive report detailing these transactions.
The strike, which began in June, has caused significant disruptions in the educational process, prompting the VTU to emphasize the necessity of support measures for affected students.
