Port Vila, Vanuatu – 24 February 2025 – The Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Stephen Felix, has officially summoned the Parliament of Vanuatu to meet for its first extraordinary session of 2025. The session is scheduled to commence on the Monday, 24th of March, and will run until Monday, 31st March 2025, starting at 8:30 AM in Port Vila.
According to the notice issued by the Clerk of Parliament, Maxime Banga, the session will focus on several key legislative matters. The list of bills to be deliberated includes the Appropriation Bill (2025) and amendments to various legislative acts such as the Government Contract & Tenders Act, the Teaching Service Act, and the Public Finance and Economic Management Act.
The Speaker emphasized the importance of this extraordinary session, highlighting that the bills under consideration will address critical areas of governance, economic management, and digital assets regulation. Among the proposed legislations, the Bill for Virtual Assets Service Providers Act is expected to draw significant attention, reflecting the increasing role of digital financial services in the nation’s economy.
