Boxing in Vanuatu has lost much of its former glory, no longer ranking among the country’s top sports. But the Vanuatu Boxing Association is now working hard to reignite interest and bring the sport back into the spotlight
The association is encouraging young people across the nation to return to the ring and start training, especially as upcoming competitions and international invitations approach.
Speaking to VBTC Sports, Jean Noel Annis of the Shefa Boxing League issued a passionate call to action.
“If you are young and are in or outside the country, I’m calling on you to return to training,” he said. “We have competitions coming up, and we’re receiving invitations from other countries. We may not have proper training facilities right now, but just come—we’ll take off from where we left off.”
The push marks a new chapter in the efforts to rebuild Vanuatu’s boxing legacy and re-establish the sport’s presence both locally and abroad.
