The inaugural Vanuatu-Australia Business Week has officially begun, drawing together government and business representatives from across the partnership. This week-long event aims to strengthen business ties, foster investment, and explore new opportunities in tourism, exports, and business development.

Australian High Commissioner, H.E Max Willis, alongside Vanuatu’s Minister of Trade and Commerce, Hon. Samson Samsen, opened the event yesterday at Warwick Le Lagon. The week will feature a series of workshops, high-level discussions, and networking events designed to enhance economic opportunities for Vanuatu.

Key highlights include:

✅ Australia-Vanuatu Business Forum – Hosted by the Australia-Pacific Islands Business Council

✅ PACER Plus Event – Led by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs International Cooperation and External Trade

✅ Big Meet – An opportunity for local suppliers to explore opportunities with Australian development projects

In a press release, the High Commissioner Willis reaffirmed Australia’s role as Vanuatu’s number one economic partner.

“Australia is here to help Vanuatu’s economic development, and this week reflects our commitment to listening to government and business stakeholders on how we can be the best partner for Vanuatu,” he said.

With Australia being a major investor in Vanuatu’s private sector, the event is expected to generate clear action points to boost economic recovery, increase tourist arrivals, and expand export markets.

The Vanuatu-Australia Business Week runs from 10-14 March, with further discussions and initiatives to follow.
