Temporary Access Granted for Business Owners in CBD

The National Recovery Committee (NRC) has approved a two-week access period from February 3 to February 14 for business owners, managers, and supervisors to enter the Restricted Area in CBD and collect their belongings.

This decision follows multiple requests from affected business owners seeking to retrieve essential items from their premises.

To gain access, business owners must submit:

    • A cover letter detailing their request,
    • A copy of their business license, and
    • Staff IDs for all individuals requiring entry.

For those with an existing Recovery Operation Centre (ROC) file, a new cover letter with specific details is required. Applications can be sent to ROCIM@vanuatu.gov.vu.

The Red Zone remains hazardous due to structural damage and ongoing aftershocks. Access will be strictly prohibited during demolition and rehabilitation phases.

Additionally, a second yellow access card is now available only for authorized personnel, including demolition and infrastructure engineers, contractors, emergency services, and essential IT and technical specialists working with banks and utility operators. These special access passes will be issued based on proper documentation submitted to ROC.
