Stevenson Liu, the Editor of News, Current Affairs, and Sports at the Vanuatu Broadcasting & Television Corporation (VBTC), is proudly representing Vanuatu at the 2024 Jefferson Fellowships program. Held from December 1 to 18, this prestigious initiative brings together journalists from across the United States and the Asia-Pacific region to explore pressing global issues.

The theme for this year’s program is “Partnerships, Postures and Perils: Assessing East Asia Security and Economic Environments.” The fellowship focuses on promoting informed dialogue and understanding of the region’s political, economic, and security dynamics, fostering collaboration among nations.

Participants will engage in discussions and field visits across three key locations: Honolulu, Manila, and Taipei. The program examines critical topics such as the South China Sea disputes and developments in the Taiwan Straits, while emphasizing the importance of partnerships and strategies to maintain peace and economic stability in the Indo-Pacific.

The Jefferson Fellowships aim to strengthen public understanding through journalism by providing reporters with firsthand insights and diverse perspectives on regional and global challenges. As a representative of Vanuatu, Stevenson Liu is poised to bring a unique Pacific Island perspective to the dialogue, while also gaining valuable insights to inform his reporting for the ni-Vanuatu audience.
