Prime Minister Jotham Napat has commenced his first official visit to the islands within the initial ten days of his tenure.
On Friday, the Prime Minister and his delegation visited Pentecost to pay respects on behalf of the government and the people of Vanuatu at the grave of the Father of Independence and the nation’s first Prime Minister, the late Dr. Father Walter Lini.
Saturday, Prime Minister Napat is on Maewo, where he is engaging with local communities and had the opportunity to inspect health and education facilities on the island. Accompanying him is the Member of Parliament for Maewo and newly appointed Minister of Agriculture, Livestock, Forestry, and Biosecurity, Hon. Ian Tokalana Wilson of the Ngwasoanda Custom Movement.
This visit holds significant importance for the people of Maewo, as it marks the first time the island is represented in the Executive Arm of the government since Vanuatu gained independence.
Following his visit to Maewo, the Prime Minister is scheduled to travel to Santo, where he will meet with the private business sector. This engagement mirrors a similar meeting he conducted earlier in the week with business representatives in Port Vila.
