Police Commend Calm and Safe Easter Weekend Across Vanuatu

Vanuatu Police Force (VPF) have reported a peaceful and quieter Easter period this year, with fewer incidents and disturbances compared to previous years.

VPF said communities across the country remained safe over the long holiday weekend, with no major incidents or serious accidents reported.

Officers were actively involved in community patrols and camp setups to ensure public safety, particularly during gatherings and events.

A member of the Community Safety Team in the Tamalas area, Philip Mericka, said the change in attitude this year was noticeable.

“This year has changed a lot. When young people see us, they show respect. When we talk to them, they listen—because if they don’t, they know we will deal with them properly,” Mericka said.

The Police have thanked the public for their cooperation, which contributed to a safe and incident-free Easter celebration.
