A partnership agreement was signed yesterday afternoon between V-Lab, the Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation (VBTC), and Vodafone. The agreement, made at the Vodafone conference room, aims to launch a new television reality show called “The Canoe Race.”
“The Canoe Race” will be produced by V-Lab and VBTC with support from the Australian government and various sponsors, including the Reserve Bank of Vanuatu, Vodafone Vanuatu, and the New Zealand government. The show is designed to highlight the entrepreneurial spirit in Vanuatu, drawing inspiration from the journeys of ancestors who traveled between islands in canoes.
The program symbolizes the risks and challenges faced by entrepreneurs as they strive to build their businesses. The creators hope to encourage local entrepreneurs to pursue innovative business projects through this initiative.
Today, the partnership should announce the launch of an application process for entrepreneurs interested in participating in the show. Starting today, applications will open for any entrepreneur with a business or innovative project. The deadline for applications is November 20th. From these applications, nine entrepreneurs will be selected to join the program.
Winners of “The Canoe Race” will have the opportunity to receive significant financial support, with prizes reaching up to 2 million Vatu to help develop their businesses.
This initiative marks a new chapter in Vanuatu’s reality television landscape, with the aim of fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the region.
