The First Ordinary Session of Parliament for 2025 officially concluded today, with the Vanuatu Maritime Safety Authority Amendment Bill 2025 being the final bill passed this afternoon.
The session was opened by the President of the Republic on May 8 and was briefly adjourned before resuming the following Monday, continuing until its conclusion today.
Out of the 18 bills presented during the session, 13 were successfully passed. Among the bills that did not progress to debate were:
- The Electrical Works Safety Bill
- The Resident Entity and Consequential Bill
- The Utility Regulatory Authority Amendment Bill
- The Government Remuneration Tribunal Amendment Bill 2025
According to Parliamentary Standing Orders, the legislature meets twice each year—once for the First Ordinary Session on the second Thursday of May, and again for the Second Ordinary Session on the first Thursday of November.
