Man Gets 2 Years for Death of Disabled Brother-in-Law

A 29-year-old man has been sentenced to two years, three months, and two weeks in prison after the Supreme Court found him guilty of fatally assaulting his brother-in-law, a man with a disability.

The sentencing was handed down on March 25, following an incident that occurred in September 2024.
The court heard that the accused attacked the victim—his wife’s brother—after becoming angry that the victim had eaten food meant for his child. The altercation led to the victim being left on the roadside in serious condition.

According to a medical report presented in court, the victim was vomiting, unable to walk, suffering from body pain, and experiencing an asthma episode. He passed away the following day as a result of his injuries.

The accused pleaded guilty to one charge of intentional assault causing death. The court emphasized the seriousness of using violence, particularly towards a vulnerable individual, and highlighted the tragic consequences of the incident.
