The Hook in 4 Health Mama Hockey program, organized by the Vanuatu Hockey Federation, wrapped up its yearly activities yesterday in Eton Village, Efate. This sports program aims to engage mothers, encouraging them to focus on health and well-being beyond their traditional roles in the kitchen.
The program, which also reached communities in Lamin and Epao, is not just about learning how to play sports with a stick and a ball. It provides essential health messages, giving mothers clear ideas on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
During the event in Eton Village, the area was vibrant with mothers dressed in colorful island attire, representing their respective villages. They gathered to participate in activities, share stories, and raise awareness about their yearly initiatives.
The closing ceremony coincided with the International Day of Activism on November 16, where mothers joined hands to celebrate the day. The theme for the event was “To live well, learn well, and to lead,” emphasizing the importance of stopping violence against women.
This celebration not only marked the end of the year’s activities but also set the stage for planning future initiatives for 2025.
