Despite the shutdown of Port Vila’s Central business district (CBD), local firms are finding imaginative ways to continue operations.
One such firm, a well-known perfume boutique, has struggled as a result of the temporary closure.
Despite these challenges, the perfume retailer displayed perseverance by relocating to Saralana Park.
Susuna George, the Sales Person for Phaela’s top-of-the-line Essential Fragrances, stated in an interview that this shift allows them to maintain consumer visibility and accessibility while also assuring safety following the earthquake. The park has become a lively hub for a variety of vendors, and the perfume industry is capitalizing on this chance to attract both regular consumers and new clients looking for other purchasing options.
They hope to efficiently meet client demand and keep their inventory stocked by keeping good ties with key suppliers in the United States.
Approximately 50 businesses are using tents to sell their products at Saralana Park, with the approval of the Lady Mayor of Port Vila City.
Business owners pay 250 vt per day as rent.
This solidarity not only supports local economies, but it also builds a sense of community among inhabitants as they traverse the recovery process together. As Vanuatu continues to rebuild from the natural disaster, companies such as this perfume boutique demonstrate resilience and dedication to servicing their communities.
