Lolowai Hospital Staff Graduate with Computer Skills to Improve Workplace Efficiency

Six staff members at Lolowai Hospital have completed computer training, empowering them with new skills for improved workplace productivity.

Six dedicated staff members from Lolowai Hospital have successfully graduated from a six-week computer skills training course offered by Ituani Vocational Skills Center, earning a Certificate I in Computing. The group, which includes a receptionist, head chef, nurse-in-charge, cleaner, and two maintenance officers, is now equipped with essential computer skills, a first for most participants.

For Wendy Seth, the hospital’s head chef, learning to use a computer has been life-changing after over 40 years in her role.

“This computer training has transformed my work, enabling me to improve scheduling, reporting, and other tasks,” Seth shared.

Health Minister Hon. John Stil Tariqwetu underscored the value of the new skills, which not only enhance job performance but also open doors for further education and development.

“These skills improve work quality and, with this certification, staff now have opportunities for continued learning and advancement,” said Minister Tariqwetu.

In response, the Minister requested ongoing support from the Vanuatu Skills Partnership, Australian Government, and DIVAT to provide Level 2 and 3 computer training for staff, ensuring sustained growth and improved service in the health sector.
