Great News for Vanuatu

On Sunday night at 7pm across New Zealand the reality TV program Married at First Sight (or MAFS for short) has aired.

This TV show has a cult like following and we are excited to share that Vanuatu will be the feature location for the program.

Filmed mainly at Iririki Island Resort in Vanuatu in November last year, Vanuatu will feature in 6 episodes over the next 3 weeks.

The program would not have been possible without the support and commitment of the team at Iririki Island Resort. They jumped at the chance to be involved and provided an amassing level of support to the program.

Without their commitment, the filming could not have taken place,” said Ms Adela Issachar Aru of the Vanuatu Tourism Office.

They really put on show for the 5 new couples. A perfect wedding and romance venue from which to start your new relationship.

Brendon Deeley, Owner of Iririki Island Resort said “As one of the Pacific’s top wedding destinations, Iririki was the natural choice for MAFS to film at and we really hope this will showcase to all the wonder and enchantment that Vanuatu offers, not just for weddings, but for all tourists looking for a wonderful holiday.”

With the announcement of the Solomons Airline service from Auckland to Port Vila this activity continues the VTO’s efforts to drive demand from New Zealand. There is such a great opportunity to grow this market, especially with the winter chills setting in.” said Ms Aru.

Other locations around Port Vila also featured include the Vanuatu Jungle Zipline, the Blue Lagoon, Club Hippique, and Banana Bay Beach Club.

The Vanuatu Tourism Office is running a marketing campaign to leverage and focus on our offering as a romance and honeymoon destination.  Some of the activities include:

  • Win a “MAFS experience in Vanuatu” Competition Partnership with Moccona Coffee throughout over 70 Woolworths Supermarkets in NZ
  • Marketing and promotion campaign nationwide using a range of channels such on-demand TV, outdoor advertising, digital and social advertising.

It is important we keep Vanuatu in the mind of consumers and we look forward to showcasing the wonderful experiences available through the exposure and huge audience that Married at First  Sight provides.

It is expected that over 250,000 people will be watching the first episode live on TV Three and there will be close to 2 million streams on ThreeNow during the airing of the show in NZ.

The program will air as follows: Sunday 26th May, 7pm on Three and ThreeNow, and continues Sunday – Tuesday evenings at 7pm.
