“Transparency and Accountability Will Guide Fund Review” – Minister Iavro

Newly appointed Minister for Trade and Commerce Robson Iavro says one of his first priorities is to review the Value Addition Capital Investment Fund to ensure all allocations are transparent and accountable.

Minister Iavro said Prime Minister Jotham Napat has given him a clear mandate to examine how the fund has been managed and identify ways to strengthen the programme.

He said the fund was established to support Ni-Vanuatu entrepreneurs, create jobs and help develop local businesses.

“Once I take up office, I will review the reports on how the money has been used and see how we can address, strengthen and improve the programme. It is important that we continue supporting local farmers and help transform their businesses by adding value to their products.”

Minister Iavro, who is serving his first term in Parliament and his first ministerial role, said the review would also include funding that has already been allocated.

Before entering Parliament, Minister Iavro served as Commissioner of Police.

Outgoing Minister Samson Samsen congratulated Minister Iavro on his appointment and pledged his continued support for the ministry’s work to strengthen businesses and economic development.

“I will continue to support you because I believe in industry, I believe in business, and I will back you in Parliament.”

The Director of Industry also attended the handover ceremony and said the ministry would continue implementing Government policies aimed at strengthening and growing Vanuatu’s business sector.
