A 35-year-old man was arrested and detained earlier today for alleged reckless driving leading to a tragic accident claiming a woman’s life.

The accident happened around 11am when a golf cart that the woman was driving collided with a speeding 4WD utility vehicle.

“ProMedical responded a primary ambulance crew and a rapid response vehicle with a critical care paramedic,” said Jeff Mabbett, CEO of the Vanuatu Emergency Services Association.

“Tragically,  the driver of the golf cart was deceased on our arrival,” Mr Mabbett added.

He added that 7 passengers whom police say are in the utility vehicle were uninjured.

Meanwhile, while he acknowledged that the public are very curious when incidents as such occurred, he says  no one wants to find out that their loved ones have died via social media.

According to police the golf crat was attempting to cross the main road to the other course when the accident happened.
