Chinese Experts Conduct Seismic Safety Assessments in Vanuatu

A team of Chinese seismic safety experts, led by structural engineering specialist Professor Dai Junwu, has arrived in Vanuatu to conduct critical safety assessments of public buildings, schools, and bridges following recent seismic activity.

The delegation, invited by the Vanuatu government, will spend the next seven days evaluating the structural integrity of key infrastructure, particularly projects constructed by Chinese companies. The initiative is being conducted under the supervision of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Vanuatu and the China Earthquake Administration.

Professor Dai, accompanied by Associate Professors Dr. Ma Jialu, Dr. Xie Xianxin, and Dr. Bai Wen, emphasized the importance of the assessments in mitigating earthquake risks and ensuring public safety. “We hope our efforts will help Vanuatu recover from the negative impacts of the earthquake,” said Professor Dai during a briefing.

This collaborative effort highlights the ongoing partnership between Vanuatu and China in addressing natural disaster challenges.
