Minister of Infrastructure and Public Utilities (MIPU), Hon. Minister Xavier Emanuel Harry, has officially signed a 6-month agreement with Tropical Agency Ltd and Knight Bridge to establish a temporary cruise ship berth at the Port Vila seafront.
A statement from the Ministry states that the initiative supports the resumption and growth of cruise tourism in Port Vila as the city undergoes recovery from recent the earthquake, including wharf road repairs and broader infrastructure restoration.
One of the key provisions in the agreement allows the seafront to operate as a temporary disembarkation point for cruise ship passengers.
The first cruise ship is scheduled to arrive on June 8—four months after all cruise ship visits were halted due to earthquake damage. The visit also forms part of the Government’s 100-Day Plan.
