The Vanuatu Football Federation (VFF) will host a one-day Beach Soccer Championship this Saturday to identify players for the national beach soccer team ahead of the OFC Men’s Beach Soccer Nations Cup in Tahiti this October.
The championship will feature five teams made up of some of the country’s top footballers, including the MSG Team, Pro-League Team, National Under-19 Team, National Under-23 Team, and National Futsal Team.
Following the preliminary matches, the two highest-ranked teams on the points table will meet in the championship final, while the remaining teams will compete for third place.
VFF said the tournament forms an important part of the national team’s preparations for the regional competition and will give national coaches the opportunity to assess players in a competitive environment.
The coaching staff will use the championship to select the best beach soccer players to represent Vanuatu at the OFC Men’s Beach Soccer Nations Cup.
The tournament will take place at the Korman Beach Soccer Arena on 8 August, with matches beginning at 8:00 a.m.
