A team of engineers will carry out surveys and inspections on seven buildings in Luganville.
The Provincial Disaster and Climate Change Committee has approved 1 million vatu to support logistics following the recent earthquake.
Chairman of the Sanma Provincial Disaster Climate Change Committee, Jonathan Iavere, said the funds will go to the Provincial Emergency Operations Centre for logistics.
“The report reached me this morning. The Manager of Public Works sat with me to discuss a lot of things, and one is to look more closely at public assets and public buildings. We have identified some of them.”
The buildings identified include Sunshine Store, Vanuatu National Provident Fund (VNPF), Vanuatu Agriculture College, the Border Control Facility at NISCOL Wharf, Wong Sze Sing Building (beside Unity Shell Station), Northern Provincial Health, and the Ports and Harbour Terminal.
Sanma Public Works Manager, Simeon Stanley, said the engineers will travel from Port Vila to join one or two engineers already in Santo.
He said work can proceed as funding for logistics is now ready.
