Paradise Swim and Arts Academy is set to benefit significantly from a major sponsorship donation from Carnival Adventures.

The cruise ship arrived in Port Vila on Sunday with tourists visiting the capital, but for the academy, it was also a highly anticipated day after weeks of waiting for a major donation.

Owner and swimming instructor Busi Vaconcellos Neil officially received three trolley loads containing 1,130 towels, which will support the academy’s outreach program with schools.

The donation was handed over by the hotel director and team from Carnival Adventures at the jetty in front of Fiawa Park.

Hotel Manager Bas Van Es said the towel donation is part of the company’s wider community support efforts.

“We can do as much as we can, and it always depends on what we have to offer. The towels are one of the things we can provide now, but we have also supported others in the past, such as the Vanuatu football team, and I’m sure there will be more opportunities in the future,” he said.

He added that while Carnival also contributes to communities in Noumea, Vanuatu holds a special place for the company.

“We contribute to Noumea communities also, but Vanuatu has been a special place in our hearts,” he said.

Ms Neil said the donation will directly help children attending swimming classes, many of whom arrive without towels.

“I am very grateful for Carnival’s sponsorship, which makes something possible here in the community. Through drowning prevention, we are saving lives by teaching swimming skills, and now we have this extra support. We are truly thankful,” she said.

Distribution of the towels will begin this week, starting with registered schools taking part in the outreach program.

The sponsorship comes under a two-year partnership agreement between the academy and Carnival Adventures, which began last year.
