UMP President to seek legal Advice on PVCC suspension

The current leader of opposition who is the President of the Union of Moderate Party (UMP) Ishmael Kalsakau, will be seeking Legal advice on the legality of the Port Vila City Council 5 month Suspension.

He made the statement today with VBTC news, few days after the suspension order was announced and Gazetted by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Hon. Andrew Napuat.

Kalsakau stated that the Minister did not complete a thorough process to suspend the council.

“First of all, he forms the investigative team, then the investigative team report back to him, then base on the report he should put a notice to the members of the council what areas they should improve on” ,says Kalsakau.

Kalsakau stated that only then, if they fail to achieve these areas he presented and if urgent he could then consider suspending the council.

He further claim that Minister Napuat’s action into suspending the council without due process is illegal and he will join the members of the council to seek legal advice on this matter.

The Union of moderate Party claims 7 councillors in the Port Vila City Council.
