Second Extra Ordinary Session to BeginToday in Parliament Library

Speaking to VBTC News, Clerk of Parliament Maxime Banga said the new parliamentary setup will help save millions of vatu, as it was completed within Parliament’s existing resources and budget.

Preparations have gone smoothly, and this afternoon saw the completion of the new temporary chamber inside the former Parliament Library, which will now host parliamentary debates.

“I can confirm that the arrangement is done within our existing resources. We had the facility and made amendments and preparations within our budget, with minimal expense,” Mr. Banga said.

He added that the new setup ensures convenience, safety, and integrity for Members of Parliament.

“It is convenient in the sense that it prioritizes safety, security, and welfare for Members of Parliament during sessions,” he explained.

The new chamber does not include a public gallery or media space, meaning the public can follow proceedings only via Parliament’s official Facebook livestream.

The second extra-ordinary sitting of Parliament takes place today, Wednesday, 22nd October at 2:00 PM, with 22 bills listed for discussion.
