East Gaua Area Council has made history by hosting the first-ever Public Service Day in Torba Province this year, bringing government services closer to the people.
The event carried the theme “Strengthening Government Decentralized Services through Innovative Approaches.” A colourful float parade opened the celebration, with government departments showcasing their work.
Public Service Commission (PSC) Commissioner, Fred Vurabaravo, said the focus of the government through the public service is to decentralize services to communities and councils.
“Our theme for this year reassures PSC’s commitment to bring services down to the people,” he said.
Vice President of the Torba Provincial Council, Hon. Hosea Tarie, added that the government’s presence in Torba demonstrates its commitment to ensure no one is left behind.
Gaua was chosen to host the event as the island is proving itself through its strong agricultural production, showcasing its readiness to become Torba’s economic hub.
Following speeches, Commissioner Vurabaravo, Torba SG Albert Ruddley, and other delegates toured departmental booths and held productive discussions with officials.
