Police Seize Drugs from Yacht in Luganville

The Vanuatu Police Force (VPF), in collaboration with the Department of Customs, has confirmed the seizure of illegal drugs from a yacht in Luganville earlier today.

According to a statement posted on the VPF’s official Facebook page, the operation began after a community tip-off led authorities to intercept the suspicious yacht in Torba Province. The vessel was then escorted to Luganville by the RVS Takuare for a formal search.

During the search, law enforcement officers discovered and secured a quantity of illicit substances. The successful operation highlights the critical role of community vigilance and the strong cooperation between the VPF, Customs, and maritime partners in protecting Vanuatu’s borders and communities from the dangers of illegal drugs.

The VPF has urged all citizens to continue reporting suspicious yachts or maritime activity to the nearest police station, emphasizing that public cooperation was key to this seizure.

A detailed investigation is ongoing, and further updates will be provided in due course. For operational and security reasons, specific details of the seizure cannot be disclosed at this stage.

The Vanuatu Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to upholding law and order while working closely with national and regional partners to combat transnational crime.
