VT7.5 million Spent on 2025 Shefa Day Celebration

A total of 7.5 million vatu was spent on this year’s Shefa Day celebrations, which took place in Siviri village, North Efate, from June 16 to 18.

According to the 2025 Shefa Day Committee, this year’s celebrations received major support from the Vanuatu Government, as the event coincided with the Public Service Commission’s (PSC) own celebration of PSC Day.

The committee highlighted that strong financial and logistical support came from key government offices, including the Office of the Prime Minister, and the departments of Trade and Commerce, Agriculture, Education, and Health.

VBTC News understands that the Public Service Commission contributed 500,000 vatu towards the first two days of activities, which included PSC-led programs and public engagement.

The committee also acknowledged the Siviri village community, along with surrounding villages on Efate, for their contributions — especially in transport and local resources that supported the event.

Looking ahead, the committee confirmed that the 2026 Shefa Day celebrations will be hosted by the community of Eton, located on East Efate.
