The President of the Republic, His Excellency Moli Nikenike Vurobaravu Moliunavanua, today signed a Revocation Order cancelling Order No. 88 of 2025.
Earlier this month, President Vurobaravu had signed Order No. 88 of 2025 to commute—or reduce—the sentences of 70 inmates, exercising powers granted under the Constitution.
However, in a statement issued today, the Office of the President confirmed that a new order has now been signed to revoke that earlier decision.
This revocation means that the 70 inmates will no longer benefit from sentence reductions and will instead serve their full prison terms as originally handed down by the courts. The revocation officially came into effect on May 12, 2025.
