Leader of the Opposition, Hon. Ishmael Alatoi Kalsakau (MP), has thrown his full support behind the Harmful Digital Communications (Amendment) Bill, stating it is long overdue. He said the bill is crucial to addressing the growing issue of fake social media accounts and page administrators who allow false or damaging posts.

“People are using fake IDs to spread lies and tarnish reputations on public pages. Page owners who let them post should also be held accountable and penalised,” Hon. Kalsakau said.

He confirmed that the Opposition has no objections to the bill and urged Parliament to pass it without delay.
