Public and private sector representatives, civil society organizations, and development partners have come together alongside the government, through the Ministry of Climate Change, to finalize Vanuatu’s Third Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

The new NDC outlines key steps the country will work on over the next ten years, focusing on cutting down carbon emissions, strengthening resilience, and addressing the loss and damage caused by climate change.

The consultation process focused on three main areas:

• Reviewing progress towards Vanuatu’s existing climate targets.
• Incorporating new ideas across different sectors and policies.
• Assessing financial needs and identifying sources of support.

Vanuatu aims to submit the finalized document at the United Nations International Climate Change Conference in September.
