“We Must Not Let Our Children Suffer with Our Disagreements” – Napat on Education Crisis

Hon. Jotham Napat has announced that the new government will focus on resolving the ongoing education crisis caused by last year’s teachers’ strike, which severely impacted students’ studies across Vanuatu.

The government is committed to addressing the issue and ensuring the education of the nation’s children is not further disrupted. Hon. Napat highlighted that education is a fundamental right for all children in Vanuatu and reassured the public that the government will work towards a solution.

“Education is a fundamental right to all children of Vanuatu. I want to highlight this political issue that we are facing today, in relation to the ongoing strike of the teachers that resulted in a lot of children being affected in their education,” said Hon. Napat. “The government will look at the interests of the teachers but, more importantly, we must protect the right of our students to go to school.”

He also noted that the previous administration, led by the former Prime Minister and current Deputy Prime Minister, had already started addressing the matter. Hon. Napat emphasized, “We must not let our children suffer with our disagreements of our leaders and this nation,” and pledged that his government would take a closer approach to find a resolution.
