Vanuatu Hosts 13 Pacific Nations for 2025 VAS Regional Tennis Championship

The Vanuatu Tennis Federation is hosting 13 Pacific nations this week for the 2025 VAS Regional Tennis Championship, with 105 participants competing in a total of 296 matches across various categories.

The tournament, held at Vanuatu Tennis courts in Port Vila, is one of the biggest regional tennis events, bringing together the best players from the Pacific. This year, the championship also emphasizes inclusion, welcoming players with disabilities.

Lorraine Banimataku, Technical Director of Vanuatu Tennis, told VBTC Sports that the matches kicked off on Monday and will run through the weekend, with finals scheduled for the last days of the tournament.

“This is a full week of competition where players will showcase their talent and sportsmanship. Before the championship, the Federation worked to address challenges with the courts to ensure a smooth tournament,” Banimataku said.

She also highlighted that one of the main goals of the championship is to bring together as many Pacific nations as possible. The event is designed not only to provide competitive experience but also to prepare Vanuatu players for other regional tournaments in the Pacific.

The competition is ongoing, with results for the first three days expected on day four. The tournament will intensify across all categories leading up to the grand finals over the weekend.

The 2025 VAS Regional Tennis Championship is supported by BRED Bank Vanuatu, VAS (Vanuatu Agriculture Supply) as the main sponsor, and VASANOC as an additional sponsor.
