    Penama Football Association Kicks Off Men’s Championship League on Ambae

    The official opening of the Penama Football Association’s (PFA) Men’s Championship League took place on Sunday, 18 May, at Saratamata Field, Ambae.

    Despite light rain, the opening ceremony went ahead smoothly, marking the start of qualifiers for the 2025 competition.

    Twelve teams representing different areas across Penama Province are now in Saratamata to compete in the championship, with matches kicking off today.

    The tournament was officially opened by DLA Officer David Kaibo. The day continued with a late-afternoon futsal competition that ran into the evening.

    Today’s fixtures saw action begin at 8AM with Telili FC facing off against Vatuhangele FC. Vatuhangele FC claimed victory in the first qualifier match with a close 3-2 win.

    In the second match, TAC FC from Melsisi defeated Lungana FC of Ambae with a convincing 5-2 scoreline.

    The Penama Football Association confirmed that FIFA assistant referee Jeremy Garae and OFC referee Arnold Tari are both in Saratamata to officiate the matches.

    More qualifier matches will continue tomorrow morning.
