The Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Stephen Dorrick Felix,  officially declared the political affiliations of Members of Parliament who were previously independent, aligned with custom movements, or sitting as single-party members in the 14th Legislature.

Following this declaration:

• Hon. Ian Toakalana Wilson, Hon. Maty Phen Lange, and Hon. John Vacher Amos have affiliated with the Leaders Party Vanuatu.
• Hon. Robert Murray Bohn and Hon. Marie Louise Milne have affiliated with the Iauko Group.
• Hon. John Lum has affiliated with the Graon mo Jastis Party.
• Hon. Gaeton Pikioune has affiliated with the Reunification Movement for Change.
• Hon. Simeon Seule has affiliated with the Vanua’aku Party.

These affiliations are made in accordance with Article 17B of the Constitution, which means these MPs cannot switch parties again during the term of this Legislature unless they are prepared to lose their seats.

With the latest affiliations, the current distribution in Parliament is as follows:

• Leaders Party Vanuatu: 12 MPs
• Vanua’aku Party and Iauko Group: 8 MPs each
• Reunification Movement for Change, Union of Moderate Parties, Rural Development Party, and Graon mo Jastis Party: 6 MPs each

This also confirms that the current coalition government now has a total of 40 MPs, while the opposition holds 12 MPs.
