Icount Yatel FC delivered a stunning 6-1 victory over Galaxy FC in a national friendly match on Thursday afternoon at the Port Vila Municipal Stadium.
The friendly served as part of Galaxy FC’s preparations for the upcoming VFF Men’s Champions League, which kicks off in two weeks. Head Coach Albert Riera is currently working to finalise his squad for the national competition.
Wearing red and white, Galaxy FC hosted Icount Yatel FC, who took the field in blue and white. The match began with an impressive display from both teams, entertaining fans who gathered for the pre-season encounter.
The breakthrough came just minutes before halftime, when an own goal from Galaxy gave Icount Yatel the lead following intense pressure from their strikers. Goals from Alex Saniel and Katy Iamak followed shortly after, sending Icount Yatel into halftime with a commanding 3-0 lead.
Early in the second half, Galaxy FC pulled one back through Maika, who scored with a well-placed bicycle kick, bringing the score to 3-1.
However, Icount Yatel was not done yet. With their momentum building, Alex Saniel, Andrew, and Katy Iamak each added another goal to seal the 6-1 triumph in what became a one-sided affair.
The match was not just a showcase of talent but also a crucial step for Galaxy FC’s final preparations before their national league campaign begins.
