Police in Port Vila have arrested a government vehicle, G002, under the responsibility of Caretaker Minister of Health Marcellino Barthelemy, following a video clip that went viral on social media this morning.
The clip showed the vehicle speeding and spinning dangerously on the road near Kawenu field. Allegations suggest the driver was under the influence of alcohol, with reports indicating that the driver is the child of the Caretaker Minister of Health.
Police sources have confirmed the removal of another government G truck following similar allegations of reckless use.
VBTC News witnessed the G truck in question and discovered visible damage to the vehicle, with reports linking it to a hit-and-run incident over the weekend. The owner of the other vehicle involved filed a report this morning.
Efforts to obtain a comment from the Caretaker Minister of Health have been unsuccessful.
Meanwhile, a senior member of the National Executive of the Reunification Movement for Change (RMC) expressed dissatisfaction with the behavior, stating that the caretaker government, led by RMC, will address the issue.
