The Magistrate Court has remanded the three crews of the yacht Mi Amore, pending Preliminary Inquiry relating to the 450 Kg of cocaine seized by authorities.
This afternoon two Turkish crew members, Bulancak Avcilar and Karasu Kocaali appear before the Magistrate Court after a translator was identified to assist with the proceeding.
During the hearing, the Magistrate granted an application from the prosecution to remand the them for 14 days to allow further inquiries into the case.
They will be remanded in the detention center until their next appearance, scheduled for 18 September at 9am.
Police sources informed that the third crew member who is a Chinese national but understands English, Ho Yin Yip, has already appear early in magistrate and remanded for similar reasons.
They were informed of right to a legal representative or lawyer.
The 3 crew members were detained after authorities intercepted their yacht in Torba Province and later discover what is now the second largest cocaine seizure in Vanuatu history
