Classic Printers, well-known for its investment in men’s football, has taken a major step this week by extending its support to women’s football for the first time.
The company, which owns Classic FC based in Luganville, Santo, signed on as a sponsor for women’s football on Tuesday, marking a significant move towards promoting gender equity in the sport.
Managing Director Nazreen Shamim confirmed the sponsorship and said it reflects Classic’s commitment to growing football at all levels.
“Classic saw that there is a lot of sponsorship for men but not many for women. We have invested heavily in men’s football, but now we want to help women’s football grow and succeed. I also encourage young women to get involved in football for more opportunities in the future,” she said.
Port Vila Football Administrator Rose Moise welcomed the move, noting how difficult it has been to find support for women’s football.
“When you talk about women in football, many people look down on us, saying we belong at home. Thank you for seeing our potential. Football is not just a sport — it helps us grow and enjoy life,” she said.
The Classic Women’s Championship has already kicked off, with TAFEA FC defeating GALAXY FC 1-0 in a match played on Wednesday.
