After Last Year’s Earthquake, Sports Face New Challenges as Facilities Reallocate

In the aftermath of last year’s devastating earthquake—which caused extensive building damage and loss of life across multiple areas—the country’s sports sector continues to struggle amid limited space and displaced facilities.

The earthquake left widespread destruction, with many buildings damaged and numerous lives impacted. As a result, local sports have been suffering from reduced opportunities and resources. In particular, martial arts programs, which were previously operated at the EX FOL facility, faced significant setbacks when Custom and Inland Revenue relocated from that location.

Due to the loss of space, all martial arts groups have been compelled to move back to Korman to secure a proper training venue. In response to these challenges, Judo has announced a new relocation of its facilities to Nabanga Pango. The program for both children and adults is set to resume tomorrow and Wednesday, marking a fresh start for the discipline.

Judo’s revamped schedule not only promises the return of regular training sessions but also includes preparations for the upcoming Pacific Mini Games in Palau this June.
