Clement Mainguy shines as top tennis player in US league

Vanuatu tennis player Clement Mainguy has been named the most outstanding tennis player for his team at Buffalo University in the United States after a standout season in collegiate competition.

Mainguy, who has been on scholarship in the US for the past five years, has been representing Buffalo University in tennis competitions and has now helped his team progress to the Premier Championship stage.

His performances in the MAC League last week earned him recognition as the team’s most valuable player after an exceptional run throughout the season.

Clement said in a recent interview that the achievement reflects years of hard work and dedication to reaching his goals.

His father, Vanuatu Tennis Federation President Cyrille Mainguy, said it is a proud moment to see a player from a small Pacific island competing and succeeding at Division One level in the United States.

“Clement is fortunate to be playing at Division One level. This season they have qualified for nationals later this year. He was named Most Valuable Player after winning all his matches, both singles and doubles. This is a great achievement for Vanuatu tennis. We come from a small nation with limited facilities, but through dedication, Clement earned a scholarship in the USA and now his team are champions for a second consecutive year, which is historic for Buffalo University,” he said.

Clement’s parents have also expressed pride in his achievements, saying his success reflects his commitment and discipline throughout his university career.

Mainguy is regarded as one of Vanuatu’s top tennis players and continues to represent the country at an international level through his scholarship pathway in the United States.
