The 2025 field archery season officially came to an end last weekend, with the final competitions held at Etmat.
The closing event brought together competitors from the Under-12, Under-15, Under-20, and Adult categories, marking the last major activity for Vanuatu Field Archery this year. Medals were awarded to winners across all divisions.
The Vanuatu Archery Federation says 2025 has been a year of major achievements. A national team competed in Australia, returning with several medals. Another team travelled to Italy, the first time Vanuatu archers reached such a high international level, and they also came back with medals. A smaller team also participated successfully in the Oceania Archery Tournament in Fiji.
These achievements highlight Vanuatu’s growing presence not only in the region but also on the international stage.
Field archery uses the same traditional techniques hunters use in the bush, which is what Vanuatu Archery is now promoting across the country.
The sport has continued to grow throughout the year, with more students and adults joining training sessions.
Next year, the federation plans to expand its programs with more school outreach activities and participation in regional tournaments, where Vanuatu’s archers will continue to represent the country.
Although the 2025 competitions have now closed, training continues as athletes prepare for an early start to next year’s calendar.
